Bird Safe Doylestown and Bird Safe Bucks County programs, are community science conservation projects modeled after the nationally recognized Bird Safe Philly (www.birdsafephilly.org) program. Thanks to the multiple organizations supporting this initiative, Bucks County Birders, Bird Town PA, Bucks County Audubon, Bird Safe Philly and PA Audubon Council, this multi-year initiative aims to raise awareness by monitoring bird collisions and developing strategies to mitigate bird collisions with buildings during their migration periods.

Each spring and fall, we seek volunteers for the Bird Collision Monitoring program in Doylestown Borough to collect the dead birds and rescue the injured birds. The dead birds will be safely transported to Academy of Natural Sciences at the Drexel University. The injured birds will be taken to AARK Wildlife Rehabilitation Center in Chalfont. Volunteers are expected to do a slow walk for 45-60 mins around the building checking the perimeter of the Bucks County Admin Building and the Justice Center, looking for dead birds that are collided with glass windows.

Monitoring Period: April 1st to June 15th for the spring season & September 1st to November 15th for the fall season.
