Field Trip to Hereford Inlet and New Jersey Shore points

Please join Carol Fitzpatrick and Barb Stollsteimer for a field trip to the Jersey Shore. October's trip usually starts at the Wetlands Institute in Stone Harbor. The Institute is closed for major renovations so we have readjusted the trip to begin at Hereford Inlet in North Wildwood. There is a large parking lot and a port-a-potty there so it is as good a place to start as any. There is also a Wawa in town if anyone needs to pick up some lunch. In the past we have had Godwits, gulls, skimmers, and other shorebirds.

From there we will stop on Nummy Island to check the Wetlands and the scrub along the road for migrants and different sparrows.

We will go on to Stone Harbor Point and eat lunch there. Participants can decide how much walking on the sand they would like to do.

There is another beach stop we could make that takes you through the low vegetation on the dunes out to another view of the ocean.

The plan is to end up at Avalon Seawatch on 8th Street. Some of the stops may be game day decisions made as a group but this is the general plan.

Please email bucksbirders@gmail.com if you would like to join. We will send the participants the details including map pins.
